After graduating from Colby College, Jesse spent almost a decade teaching English at three different independent schools in Connecticut. In addition to her teaching, Jesse coached multiple sports and worked as an advisor for middle school boys. She also served as the assistant director of admissions at Fairfield Country Day School.
Over time, Jesse became increasingly interested in what it is that holds so many bright students back from finding meaning or success in school. Eventually this interest, along with her desire to connect more fully with individual students and their struggles, led Jesse to return to graduate school at Saint Joseph in West Hartford, where she earned her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As part of her graduate coursework, she served as a therapist at The Bridge Family Center in West Hartford. Throughout her training, Jesse realized that she was indeed built for working with individual students and families, but she was reluctant to separate her work completely from her commitment to education. When she discovered educational therapy, which for her navigates the intersectionality between education and counseling, she realized she had found a perfect fit. Jesse has a knack for connecting with students; with her they feel safe and empowered to engage in the self study necessary to find fulfillment. Jesse’s goal for every student is to help discover, celebrate and build on their particular and unique strengths. She loves helping students find proactive organizational practices, develop effective habits to enhance their educational experience, and master the strategies that work for them.
